Subject: [Goodwood Marathon] 9 days and counting


Online Registration closes on the Thursday 6th August - Don't miss
your chance to grab our pre event prices!

If you haven't registered yet then please do register *and pay* in the
next week for discounted rates.

A huge thank you to over 450 of you that have already signed up.  We
hope you are looking forward to the event as much as we are :-)

Due to the processing time required we are no longer accepting postal
registration, cheque payments or bank transfers however you will still
be able to pay online by Credit Card via PayPal (you do not need a
PayPal account) until Thursday 6th August.  After then only
registration on the day will be available which is *cash only*.

If you do want to pay on the day then please do feel free to register
online now.  This will reserve your spot in the race and save you
having to fill out all the paperwork when you get there.

Spectators get in free of charge so bring your friends and family
along to support you.  A picnic by the track is a great way to race.

We have just updated the site plan.  If you are new to our race you
may want to know where everything is.  You will be glad you know the
ice cream van has been booked and the NAAFI Wagon will be doing hot
food and drinks all day.  We haven't forgotten the racers either with
over a tonne of water being handed out on the far side of the track.

There will be trophies again this year for the first three racers in
each race and of course we also have medals for all participants.  We
may call our event a race but some will find 2 laps a lot harder than
others do 22 laps.  It's great people push themselves for charity.

For those of you that have forgotten, the Goodwood Roller Marathon
really is a fun day out.  We have all levels of skaters there from the
elite speed skaters to the complete novice.  This mix of people makes
a great atmosphere.  The course is a fairly flat route around a lovely
smooth track with the excitement of skating in a safe environment away
from traffic around the prestigious Goodwood circuit. This year we
have four events in one, one for beginners and younger participants of
2 laps, one for the intermediate skater of 5 laps, the classic full
marathon of 11 laps and the massive 22 lap race for the experienced so
the whole family of different abilities can take part.  We aren't even
restricting the event to just skates we have long-borders, Roller
Skiers and a Trikke taking part.

Goodwood Roller Marathon is run in aid of the NSPCC.  The aim of the
day is to have fun, skate safely, and raise as much money for the
NSPCC as possible.
